11 May 2022 Vara’s AI-powered breast cancer screening platform was designed to make data-driven breast cancer screening accessible to everyone. With a growing database of more than 7 million mammograms and several international screening centres around the world, we are already seeing how the AI on our full-stack platform is having a positive impact on breast cancer screening.

Through our post-marketing surveillance database — which forms the backbone of our Real World Evidence (RWE) collection efforts — we can gather pseudonymized data from international screening units and turn it into anonymized data for research and quality assurance purposes; ensuring the utmost privacy for patient data. RWE offers tremendous potential to inform healthcare decision-making as countries around the world begin to adopt AI-based technologies.

To support Vara’s efforts in RWE, we are happy to welcome two additional experts to the Vara Advisory Council: Werner Boeing and Ian Rentsch.

Werner is CEO & Co-Founder of evisory GmbH, where he advises founders and C-level leaders of multiple digital healthcare and technology enterprises while engaging in open research programs which aim to shape the future of healthcare. He possesses over 30 years of multi-industry experience serving as an executive (CIO/CDO) and board member at global market leaders in the FMCG, biotech and medtech domains. Werner was the Chief Information Officer of Roche Diagnostics for over 10 years and is an expert in data-enabled business models in healthcare.

“Vara to me is the place where digital healthcare creates real impact at scale and serves a purpose that is very close to my heart by improving women’s health” Werner Boeing

Ian is the Vice President, Head of Global Data Partnerships at TriNetX where he is part of the Executive Leadership Team. He has over 25 years of experience in multinational corporate affairs, outsourcing management, clinical research, real-world data generation in both large multinational companies as well as start-ups in Europe and Latin America. Ian held management positions at well-known companies such as IQVIA, Clinerion and AETION.

“Vara is uniquely positioned to generate valuable data that can be turned into real world evidence to bring healthcare and science forward.” Ian Rentsch

Together with Werner and Ian, Vara is in a strong position to connect the data dots at scale between breast cancer screening and the subsequent pathway.
